A completely new Profile URL has been released
This version will only work with sh404SEF (as of now. I hadn't had the chance to look at Artio's sef_ext for CB).


Major Upgrades
- EVERY SINGLE profile links will be SEF'ed, not just the one displayed by Profile URL (!!!)
- Example: click on the profile links of each user on the forums and you'll get what I mean.
- Does not require syncing or whatever. It's all done via the modified CB sef_ext for sh404SEF
- Fixes all issues with previous Profile URL versions.


Instructions
- Upload com_comprofiler.php to components/com_sef (or com_sh404sef)/sef_ext. You will have to overwrite the existing com_comprofiler.php. Backup first!
- You have to configure sh404SEF to work using htaccess, or "index.php" will appear in your URL. If you don't know how to do this, please visit sh404SEF's website http://extensions.siliana.com/ and search their forums.
- Go to sh404SEF's configuration > Plugins tab, under Community Builder, and set "Short URL to user profile?" to Yes.


Requirements
- Joomla! 1.0.13 (and above) or 1.5.0 (and above. Does not require legacy.)
- CB 1.2 RC (and above)
- Mootools (if you're using Joomla 1.5, Mootools is already installed. If not, you'll have to install it yourself)


Upgrading
Upgrading from previous versions of Profile URL is quite easy. Simply clear all your sh404SEF's custom redirect URLs. You will have to make sure you don't remove those that you need though. Then, just uninstall the Profile URL component and CB plugin. The new Profile URL only requires installing the CB plugin.

I would love to have profile url working with joomsef (the latest release for joomla 1.5) ... Can you Mike make this happen for $$ ... Or failing that, can anyone else? ... Your product is a must for me Mike!  Wink

Hi Mike,

I installed the newest Profile URL and did all 3 steps specified in instructions. When I click edit, I get an error. Specifically, the message says "There was an error with your request."

Any ideas?

Same here, it triggers the onFailure: function().
Another issue, when you try to edit another user's url as moderator, you get the following error :
Your session has expired due to prolonged inactivity. Please refresh the page and try again.

This one is due to the fact that the special moderator privileges are not checked for.

I am having some problems also. I have followed all the instructions but are not getting any results. However I did have it working prior to the upgrade to J1.5.6
could this have any effect? When I sync users I get this following message:
Error Syncing Profile Names. No valid SEF component found.

You shouldn't be syncing anything. The component from the previous version should be uninstalled.

sh404SEF was a great component for joomla 1.0 series but is no longer really needed with joomla 1.5 which is working really well with SEF

can you modify your plugin so that it adapts also to joomla 1.5 core SEF engine ?

when i try to use search users function in cb 1.2 it gives me error 404 page

I have follow all of the installation instructions
Maybe its cb and sh404sef issue becouse without profile url installed i can`t search for user

Also i get "There was an error with your request." message when trying to change url

I am also receiving an error when clicking the edit url button in the profile. Is there any way just to disable this or is there a fix?

Joomla 1.5's SEF is still as crappy as ever. There is a sh404SEF version for Joomla 1.5

Hi Mike, first of all: thank you very much.

Everything is ok but I have nearly the same problem as other users reported: when I click on "edit url" button it gives no error but url below button disapears and no chance to edit url. If you have a suggestion to fix it...

I can't reproduce it, so I don't see anything to fix. Make sure you have mootools installed on your site, and nothing else is interfering with it.

Hi mike, I faud a sollution for "There was an error with your request."  when editing profile url.

I am using j 1.5 with mootools theme but i have the error. Then i put this

into head of my template index and copy mootools-release-1.11.js into templates folder. And it works perfect now!!!

I still hawe problems with search function of cb 1.2 (error 404 page) and some redirects (when log out from your profile)

Hi, I cannot get this to install

I followed all the instructions, and have sh404SEF installed successfully, but get the following error message - 'Error! Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package.'

I'm using Joomla! 1.5.3
